Virgin Atlantic has taken delivery of its second Airbus A350 this afternoon, registered G-VPOP. Operating as VS845P, it flew from Toulouse to Malta rather than to London Gatwick like its sister ship that was delivered just under three weeks ago.
G-VPOP was supposed to be the first A350 delivered to the airline. However there were a few cabin issues meaning it was beaten by its sistership.
With a fairly large Lufthansa Technik facility in Malta, it may be the case that the airline has decided to accept the aircraft as is, and have the issues sorted in Malta.
With G-VLUX having spent a good deal of time in Glasgow undertaking training flights, it will be interesting to see whether G-VPOP will be given a run out for training missions too.
Initially, the airline will use their Airbus A350 on the London Heathrow – New York JFK route on 10th September. Los Angeles will follow in 2020.
