For the past 12 months or so, Finnair has been renewing their lounge offering at their home base of Helsinki.
First to open was the Platinum Wing, which is reserved for OneWorld Emerald card holders. In late December 2019, this was followed by the Non-Schengen business class lounge, which caters for the airlines long haul business class passengers, along with OneWorld Sapphire card holders.
Through passport control, near gate 50.

The main entrance to this lounge is shared with the Platinum Wing. Where you would turn left to enter the Platinum Wing, entrance to the Business Lounge is located to the right.
Upon entry, you’re greeted with an open space, which leads into a self serve bar area.
In this area are a number of high top tables and chairs.
Behind this area are 5 shower suites.
Opposite are a number of private chairs, not unlike what’s found in the Platinum Wing next door.
Once you’re past this area, you’re into the main area of the lounge.
Along the wall is an open kitchen, along with a buffet. The food options on the buffet were identical to what was found in the Schengen lounge.
In this area are a number of tables and chairs set up for eating.
Beyond this in a rather large open space are a number of seating options – ranging from arm chairs to sofas.
Along the back wall is a slightly darker area which looks to be set up as a rest area.
The centrepiece of this main lounge area is a reasonably well stocked bar. Although not quite as well stocked as the one next door!
Dotted around the lounge are coffee machines, self serve beer and soda taps.
Found near the buffet area is a good selection of wine.
Also available are a few reading materials
With the Non-Schengen lounge complex now more or less complete, Finnair have done a very good job of refreshing their lounges.
Whilst the previous lounge offering were both more than sufficient, the new lounges are a step up again.
Both seem to be a lot bigger than what was available previously. And the brighter atmosphere in the Business Lounge makes a big difference.
Well done Finnair!
