Air France: CDG-TLS, Economy

The day started on the shuttle back to the airport. 

After making the walk from the drop off point to the terminal, it was through security. The fact track here was very good, with only the one person ahead of me. I was through in a matter of minutes.

It was then a case of following the signs for the lounge. Although the first one I went to insisted that I used the one nearest to my gate instead. No big deal I guess, as from what I remember they’re virtually identical anyway.

Once I was at the right lounge, it was a little on the busy side, but not completely rammed. The layout of it meant that it was a little difficult to get too many pictures without invading others privacy too much.

One feature of the Air France Schengen lounges I like is the food. It’s a little on the basic side, but it tastes great.

Boarding 

As I was so close to the gate, I made my way there a couple of minutes before boarding was scheduled to start.

Boarding began as expected at 30 minute prior to departure.

This Air France A320 had a different cabin to the one that I flew between LHR-CDG. Onboard this one was the increasingly common Recaro slimline seats as found on board British Airways, Iberia, TAP and EasyJet among others.

One trick I have found with this seat is that the arm rest next to the window does go up, so you can bag yourself an extra couple of inches if you need them.

Departure

The doors were closed more than five minutes ahead of schedule. No flying time was given, but the captain did mention that the seatbelt sign was INOP, therefore he would have to let us know over the PA when it was safe to move around.

Pushback came a minute or two ahead of schedule.

A pretty quick taxi over to the active runway followed and the wheels went up around ten minutes after leaving the gate.

Onboard Service

The service began around 15 minutes after departure. As this was a domestic flight, it consisted of light snacks and drinks. Even though this flight was longer than the flight from Heathrow, you get less food!

Also of note is that Air France don’t offer Business Class on their domestic flights. In fact, I couldn’t even select seats on the domestic sectors of this trip until online check in opened.

Arrival

Descent started around 45 minutes after departure and touchdown came after a 1h10 flight.

As this was a domestic arrival, there were no formalities to complete, and I was on to a tram within minutes.

My Thoughts

A much better flight with Air France today. Although it does strike me as odd how the service and seats are a lot more basic on the domestic flights, despite in some cases being longer than international ones.

This wasn’t a big deal though.

The lounge at CDG was just as I remembered. Well maintained, good food but more than a little on the busy side.
